Faculty and staff already have demanding and time-consuming responsibilities. Much in university life draws them away from getting more deeply involved in students' lives. But who is better prepared to help students understand the match between their talents and their vocational ideals than experienced members of the academic community who have struggled to make similar choices and to answer their own callings?
A key part of the Intersections project will be a series of semester-long seminars to help faculty and administrative staff understand the role of vocational discernment in undergraduate development, as well as widen their awareness of the important roles they can play in this kind of student discernment.
There are two types of seminars currently: the original seminar on vocation and the topic seminar on student formation.
