Course Approval at BC

office of international programs

Study abroad courses count as general electives toward graduation. In addition, specific courses can count toward BC minor, major, or core requirements with departmental approval.

If you would like a particular course to count as a major, minor, or core requirement at BC, you will need to complete a Course Substitution and Waiver form and obtain the appropriate BC department signature. Paper copies of the form are available at Student Services in Lyons Hall and, for your convenience, also at Hovey House. Return the completed form to Student Services.

If your course registration plans change once you are abroad and you need to get additional courses approved, contact the appropriate BC department via email. Remember to save all correspondence. You will submit the form to Student Services once you are back and having obtained required signature approval.

We recommend that you keep all coursework and syllabi as supporting documentation of your overseas work.
