The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), founded 1953, near Greensboro, NC, seeks to maximize the educational and athletic opportunities of student-athletes by affording individuals equitable opportunity to pursue academic excellence and compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics competitions. acc banner image

THe ACC International Academic Collaborative

The Atlantic Coast Conference International Academic Collaborative (ACC-IAC) is a conference program that nurtures academic and administrative collaborations among the 12 ACC universities, founded by David Brown, Provost of Wake Forest University. Boston College is one of the twelve universities of the ACC Academic Collaborative, represented by OIP Director Bernd Widdig.

Boston College students Milagros Bernabo, Sheila Bharucha, Jennifer Close, Veronica Gentile, Christa Martens and Kerri McNicholas represented Boston College at the first ACC-IAC student conference,  "Transforming International Education Through Service Learning", which took place February 1-3, at North Carolina State University. BC students delivered three best practices sessions and contributed to the poster sessions.

ACC-IAC Summer Programs

BC students have the unique opportunity to take part in an ACCIAC funded study-abroad programs designed for ACC undergraduates and led by collaborating ACC faculty. 

Faculty Development

Central and Eastern Europe: Social Issues in New Emerging Democracies, - Led by professors Cecil Greek and Tomi Gomory, Florida State University, and BC's Prof. Betty Blythe (GSSW), this program will focus on the impact of globalization and democratization and the resultant social problems that have emerged in three developing democracies of Central Europe: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
