Role in Office
Maria joined the OIP staff in December 2010. As the Technology and Communications Specialist, she manages the technological needs and services for the OIP staff and BC students, including the online application system and the Office of International Programs website. She also oversees the application process for BC students studying abroad.
Maria is also the advisor responsible for programs in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, domestic ‘study away’ and ocean-based programs.
Maria completed her M.A. in Higher Education Administration at Boston College. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Siena College in Loudonville, NY. Maria studied abroad at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in the Netherlands during her junior year.
In 2013, Maria was selected as an Institute Scholar and participated in the Institute for Study Abroad's Institute conference focused on Crisis and Risk Management.
Administrative & Academic Experience
Prior to role as Technology and Communications Specialist, Maria worked as the Study Abroad Programs Specialist in the Office of International Programs, overseeing the academic year application process and advising students on domestic, ocean-based programs, and summer internships.
Areas of Interest
Her professional interests include study abroad health and safety, risk managment and the use of technology to connect people, institutions, and cultures.
