Maria Segala

Role in Office

Maria joined the OIP staff in December 2010.  As the Study Abroad Programs Specialist, she oversees the application process for BC students studying abroad during the academic year. Maria organizes the annual Study Abroad Fair in September and assists with outreach programs throughout the year.

Maria is also responsible for domestic ‘study away’ programs.


Maria completed her M.A. in Higher Education Administration at Boston College.  She received her B.A. in English Literature from Siena College in Loudonville, NY.  Maria studied abroad at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in the Netherlands during her junior year.

Administrative & Academic Experience

Prior to role as Study Abroad Applications Specialist, Maria worked as a graduate student worker in the Office of International Program as a front desk receptionist.  She also served as a tour guide for Pine Manor College’s Summer English Language Institute, introducing international students to the city of Boston.

Areas of Interest

Her professional interests include international education, study abroad, and cultural immersion experiences for students abroad.
