Role in Office
Laura Saylor joined the Office of International Programs in December 2008. As Office Manager, she is responsible for tracking office expenditures, assisting the director with administrative tasks, and supervising the student employees in the reception area and resource room.
Education
Laura earned her B.A. in Spanish and Global Studies with a focus on Globalization at the University of Richmond and is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Social Work at Boston College. Laura studied abroad at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid during her junior year in college. She holds a TESL/TEFL teaching certificate from the American Language Institute in San Diego.
Administrative Experience
Prior to joining the Office of International Programs, Laura worked in the Office of Human Resources at Boston College. For several years, Laura was a Housing & Student Life Assistant for international students at San Diego State University. She has also taught English as a Second Language, Spanish, and other academic subjects in the United States and Spain.
Areas of Interest
Laura’s interests include travel, learning new languages, and assisting others with cultural transition. She is keenly interested in the experience of young adults whose identity has been shaped by a significant period of time spent living in other cultures, and serves to support this population at Boston College. Laura completed undergraduate thesis research on the experiences of Global Nomads/Third Culture Kids (TCK’s) and their role as guides in the age of globalization.
