Role in Office
Mireille McLaughlin joined the OIP staff in February 2015 as Program and Outreach Manager. In this role she is responsible for advising students about study abroad opportunities in France, Italy and Switzerland and leading the office in promoting education abroad within the BC community.
Mireille holds an M.A. in International Higher Education and Intercultural Relations from Lesley University and a B.A. in International Relations from Wheaton College. While at Wheaton Mireille spent her junior year studying at the University of Paris III and spent a summer during graduate school studying in Toulon, France.
Before coming to OIP, Mireille worked at the Office of International Studies at Wellesley College for over eight years most recently as Assistant Director. In this role she advised students on study abroad opportunities worldwide, managed the college’s programs in France and Italy and university partnerships in the United Kingdom and Australia. Prior to Wellesley, Mireille worked in the International Scholar’s office at M.I.T. She has also held positions in a student travel company, a homestay provider and an intercultural consulting company.
Areas of Interest
Mireille is active in the field of education abroad, presenting at conferences and serving as a member of NAFSA’s Trainer Corps and Visa Education Subcommittee. Her professional interests include promoting cultural and linguistic immersion for students studying in traditional destinations and helping students articulate skills learned abroad to gain a competitive edge in the post-graduation job market.
