office of international programs

The McGillycuddy-Logue travel grants are awarded to Boston College students through the McGillycuddy-Logue Center for Undergraduate Global Studies. Established in 2008 with a generous gift from Kathleen McGillycuddy and Ron Logue, the Center promotes and fosters innovative international learning for undergraduate students at Boston College.

Eligibility Requirments
The McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant is available to BC undergraduate students who plan to study on BC summer or semester and year programs abroad and are also recipients of BC institutional financial aid at the time of application (students from the Woods College of Advancing Studies are not eligible). The McGillycuddy-Logue Grant is awarded based on assessed student need and estimated program cost. In order to apply, students must have begun the application process at OIP for the program they are planning to attend. Note that summer and semester/year programs have different application requirements and procedures. Summer applicants need to have submitted a complete program application online. Students who have accepted a McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant in the past are not eligible to apply. The grant can only be awarded once.

Please note: the McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant Application is available within the online application system. Students should first complete the program-specific application before proceeding to the McGillycuddy Logue application.

Components of the Application
A complete application will consist of a duly-completed online application form and an electronically uploaded BC transcript. Transcripts can be ordered on Agora. We will accept unofficial transcripts as long as they are legible and reflect all courses taken to date, as long as those in progress. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. As part of the review process, our office will automatically generate a financial-need report for each student who submits an application. These reports are kept highly confidential. By submitting an application, you agree to allow this information to be added to your application materials.

Students will be informed of the outcome via email approximately 3-6 weeks after the deadline. Those who are awarded grants will be required to accept their awards online. Grants will then post to students’ BC accounts and awards can be verified on Agora. Please note that awards are posted in December (Spring), June (Summer) and July-August (Fall and Academic Year).

Giving back to Boston College
Upon return from abroad recipients of the McGillycuddy-Logue Travel Grant will be asked to submit a thank you letter to the benefactors, including a photo that best describes their learning experience abroad.

As part of the application and re-entry process, grant recipients will also be asked to reflect on and be involved in sharing their experience with perspective students.

Program alumni are highly encouraged to share material on OIP social media platforms, including videos, blogs, photos, notes, and more. OIP reserves the right to feature McGillycuddy-Logue grant recipients on the OIP website and to share information with donors.

Questions can be directed to or Christina Hatzipetros at Students are not required to meet with a scholarships advisor at OIP in order to apply.
