Recovering quarantined email in Outlook
from your Quarantined folder
Summary:  Learn how to recover quarantined email in Outlook.

When you install or upgrade to McAfee VirusScan Enterprise edition, a new folder called "Quarantine" is created in Outlook. If you receive an email that is suspicious to the email scanner, it automatically puts this email in the new Quarantine folder and sends you an email message saying that an email attachment was detected that could potentially contain a virus.

To recover an email from the Quarantine folder in Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Under Outlook Today - [Personal Folders], click Quarantine.
  3. Look at the messages in this folder:
    • If the message was something that you were expecting and think is safe to open, then drag and drop it into your Inbox or other appropriate folder to work with it from there.
    • If the message looks like a virus, then delete it.
