Email and Calendar Clients

bc gmail and google calendar

IMPORTANT CAVEATS ABOUT USING AN EMAIL CLIENT (INSTEAD OF THE WEB):

Google Apps works best in the Chrome Browser.
Install Chrome now!

You will be able to send and receive email immediately, but it can take up to a month for stable functionality. This is due to the slow initial "sync" with your Gmail account. During the first month, you may experience anomalies and poor search results. Even after the initial set up is done, you will notice some of the functionality in your email software will NOT work exactly as it did in Exchange.

We recommend you use the web to access gmail. Login at g.bc.edu.

IMAP Gmail Settings - Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook

IMAP configuration will sync your BC email to clients such as Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook. It will not sync your BC calendar or contacts. Learn more about using an IMAP email client with BC Gmail.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT APPLE MAIL: Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) users have reported that messages disappeared and were permanently deleted while using Apple Mail. To avoid this issue, install all security and operating system updates prior to configuring Apple Mail. From the Apple Menu, choose "Software Update", and install all security and operating system updates. This recommendation may conflict with other operating system recommendations at BC, so please contact your Technology Consultant if you are considering using Apple Mail, but have Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
