Reserving Space

The John Courtney Murray, S.J. Graduate Center

The John Courtney Murray, S.J. Graduate Student Center was established and exists to serve the entire graduate student population at BC.  Graduate students and graduate student organizations - along with BC employees, offices, and departments - are welcome to reserve various areas of the Murray Graduate Student Center as long as their purpose for gathering is graduate student related and/or includes graduate students.  However, priority for MGC usage is given to graduate students.

Available Space

The Living Room
Located on the first floor of the Murray Graduate Student Center, the living room is an inviting space which is perfect for discussion groups, meetings, and social gatherings.  Graduate students also frequently use the television and dvd player, and are often spotted enjoying one of the Center's 200 plus movies from its free DVD Lending Library.  The living room comfortably holds twenty guests.

The Dining Room
The Murray Graduate Student Center boasts a large dining room which seats twenty-five guests comfortably and is usually filled with students sharing a meal and some good conversation at lunch time.  For this reason, the dining room is not available for reservation between noon and 2:00pm on weekdays.  Otherwise, groups are welcome to take advantage of this great space.  While the oven and stove in the kitchen may not be used, guests are welcome to make use of the toasters and microwaves, and to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea, coffee or water.

The Conference Room
Located on the second floor of the Murray Graduate Student Center, the conference room is an ideal space for small meetings, dissertation defenses and study groups.  The room comfortably seats eight to ten guests.  Graduate students frequently utilize this space for quiet and group study.

The Reading Room
The reading room is a warm and inviting space on the second floor of the Murray Graduate Student Center, perfect for small meetings and informal study groups.  Graduate students are frequently sighted taking a study break in the reading room, tucked away with a cup of tea and a good book.  The reading room holds eight guests comfortably.

The Lawn
Situated behind the Murray Graduate Center, this sprawling outdoor area is ideal for graduate student group barbecues or a pick-up game of frisbee!  Maximum capacity on the Murray Graduate Student Center lawn is 250 guests.

To reserve space please fill out the Murray Graduate Student Center Space Reservation Form.
