Treasurer Training Sessions
Fall group training sessions TBD.
Please contact the GSA Financial Director, Jon Piron (jon.piron@bc.edu), for an individual appointment.
Role of the departmental treasurer:
Treasurers act as the keeper of the student funds for their department. Treasurers must maintain their own independent record of their department’s income and expenses.
In addition, when submitting reimbursement requests and check requests to the GSA Financial Director, treasurers are to ensure that all paperwork is filled out correctly and all necessary documentation is attached properly before submitting it to the Financial Director. Treasurers will be contacted by the Financial Director to make corrections, if necessary.
Budget Information:
Each semester graduate and professional student departments are allocated money based on the student enrollment in each respective department. The Graduate Student Association retains 30% of all student fees for activities and grants, while AHANA and GISA each retain 3% for their programming. The rest of the money goes directly to graduate and professional student departments.
Full allocations do not happen until the second month of each semester due to the fluctuations in enrollment during that period. Once money is allocated to a department account, the treasurer will be notified how much money has been allocated and the current account balance.
You can request a current balance amount at any time by contacting Denise Fung, Acting Director of Graduate Student Life (denise.fung@bc.edu) directly.
Treasurers are responsible for maintaining their own records of all transactions in their department’s account. Balance quotes are provided to assist you with this process.
