Diversity and the Ignatian Tradition
John P. Murray, S.J.
Internal Consultant for Ignatian Spirituality, Employee Development
Sidney W. Holloway
Associate Director, Office for Institutional Diversity

Diversity is deeply rooted within the Ignatian tradition. This program, part of your orientation process, helps you experience the Jesuits’ journey in trying on different cultures. At Boston College, many ask what is the personal and institutional responsibility we have to embrace and fully utilize the diversity in our community. What we call the Jesuit vision was transformed by interacting with other cultures, by embracing new knowledge, and by welcoming new colleagues.

Having a shared understanding of diversity and the Ignatian tradition enables each of us to listen and be listened to; be welcoming and feel welcomed; and to embrace our work and the work of others.By using video and dialogue, this session provides you an opportunity to self-reflect and engage in conversation about the implications of, as well as some practical ways in living this legacy and vision within the Boston College Community. We look forward to having you as part of this conversation.

Retreat for Married Faculty and Staff
Co-sponsors: Center for Ignatian Spirituality, The Intersections Project, and the Employee Development Office
Many people have expressed that they have more than one vocation in life, including the vocation of marriage, in addition to their professional vocations. Facilitated by members of the Jesuit Community and now in its fourth year, this retreat allows members of the B.C. Community and their spouses to get away for a weekend of relaxation, to spend some quality time with their spouse, to share with others, and to reflect on their marriage.

The weekend begins with dinner on Friday, and concludes at noon on Sunday. A non-refundable $100 deposit per couple reserves your space. The retreat is co-sponsored by the Employee Development Office, Intersections Project, and Center for Ignatian Spirituality. Limited to 15 couples. Directions and other information will be available to all registrants.
