Syllabus Design (Required)

Tuesday, June 28, 2016, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, CTE Seminar Room - O'Neill 251

Although a seemingly simple document, the syllabus has the potential to be a powerful teaching tool. By setting the stage for why your course matters, clarifying for students what they need to do to succeed, and establishing expectations for your classroom community, the syllabus can pave the way for a more successful semester for everyone. In this seminar, we’ll review some of the key roles the syllabus can play and discuss how a “backwards design” approach to syllabus development can lead to a more coherent course overall. Tim Lindgren and Stacy Grooters will facilitate this workshop. Lunch will be provided. Enrollment is limited; please register as soon as possible, but no later than June 22nd.
