Emma is pursuing her PhD in Literature, with her work focusing on Nineteenth-Century transatlantic authors, such as William Wordsworth, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman. Emma initially began college as a Zoology major at the University of Hawaii, and her love of science has never left her work. She is currently interested in models of the imagination and poetic creativity, and uses both Eco-criticism and Cognitive theory to explore how Nature affects the human body and mind. Outside of research, Emma enjoys geeking-out at the Planetarium, hiking, playing sports, and organizing group trips to museums and music shows. On campus, Emma regularly co-teaches with her dog, Bear.
