These sessions provide a hands-on opportunity for faculty and staff to learn popular software applications on campus. Sessions use Windows XP or Vista laptop computers unless otherwise stated. All sessions will be held in Carney Hall, Room B11. Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of class. Seating is limited. Please be sure to register early.

Office 2003 classes will no longer be offered. However, if you still are using Office 2003 and want to improve your skills, online training courses are available through Microsoft e-Learning. Visit bc.edu/mselearning to learn more.

Introduction to Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful image editing program. This session will provide you with some basic tips for using Photoshop such as cropping, resizing, straightening, and color correcting images. We will also review the most frequently used tools in the toolbar.  For those who do not have Photoshop installed on their computers, the instructor will explain how to access Photoshop on the BC application server.

Prerequisites: Participants must have a strong understanding of basic computing concepts including opening and saving files and working with the mouse. Participants must also be able to upload files to MyFiles@bc.

NOTE: This class is a hands-on version of the Photoshop Tips and Tricks class offered in Spring of 2009.


Introduction to Word 2007

Come and explore the changes in Word 2007. The toolbar and menu structure has been re-designed for Word 2007 making it more intuitive. Additionally, several new features were added to make Word a more powerful application for all your word processing needs. This hands-on session will give you an opportunity to experience many of these changes and additions. We will explore: the new command structure (known as the Ribbon), the new file saving options (docx. vs. doc.), the Contextual Spelling Checker, formatting text, tables, and page setup, and much more.

This class is designed for the experienced Word 2003 user who has recently migrated, or will be migrating, to Word 2007.
