Job Shadow Program
boston college career center
The Boston College Job Shadow Program matches undergraduates with alumni and active employers for short-term job shadowing and mentoring experiences.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Experience a "Day in the Life" of a professional in a field or industry of your choice and gain valuable exposure and visibility to a vast world of opportunities and potential beyond the BC campus!
- Typically a one-day experience
- An opportunity to connect with alumni and employers
- An "in the office" experience that gives you insight into what it would be like to work in an organization on a day-to-day basis
- Observe client/customer interactions and sit in on staff meetings
- Discuss your career pursuits and aspirations with professionals
HOW TO APPLY
Job shadow opportunities are available nationwide from January 3-9, 2018. To register, sign up on EagleLink beginning November 1, 2017. (On the jobs tab, use Advanced Search, select “Show me” and then “Job Shadow.”)
View registered companies and locations on EagleLink and select up to five job shadows of interest. Upload your résumé, tell us why you're interested, and your application is done! You will be contacted by a member of the Career Center staff with your job shadow match details by late November. Students are matched based upon their industry and location preferences as well as the connection between the student’s goals for participation and the criteria of the hosting organization. Please note that job shadows are an unpaid mentoring experience, but they provide valuable insight into career options.
Over 250 job shadows were completed last year.
Applicants must be current Boston College undergraduates in good academic standing.
