Amy Anselmo
Manager, Electronic Media Production, Bose Corporation
Marketing & Communication, 1998

Since graduating from BC with a double major in Marketing and Communications in 1998, Amy has enjoyed a successful career in Film and Video Production.  While at BC she interned for 2 years in Reebok’s production department.  Amy attributes much of the professional success she has since had to that experience, of learning how a corporation operates and the expectations for a Producer. She received hands-on training there in editing and project management even while working as an intern.

Amy’s first full time job after graduation was with Arnold Worldwide, a large advertising agency in Boston.  She worked on the production of TV and radio spots for clients such as McDonald’s, Royal Caribbean, Volkswagen, and EMC.  She maintains to this day how great a learning experience that was for her to see the differences in the dynamics of an agency versus a corporate environment.  In 2000, she found her way back to the corporate side as a Producer at Bose Corporation. Amy was responsible for producing all broadcast material, as well as, in-store display content for Bose retail partners worldwide (Circuit City, Best Buy, Tweeter etc.).  Currently, Amy manages the Production department at Bose.  With a staff of full time and freelance Producers, she oversees a workload that continues to grow and morph with the continuously evolving technology. Amy explains: “I feel fortunate that I was able to identify my passion for video production early in my career.  I’ve had many different experiences on hundreds of projects that gave me a solid understanding of the production process and now my focus is on developing other Producers to become successful.”

Patrick Kennedy
Editor/Writer, Boston University, Office of Creative Services
History, 1999

At BC, Patrick Kennedy hosted a Celtic music program on WZBC 90.3 FM, and interned at the BC-alum-owned Dorchester Reporter and Boston Irish Reporter. In 2000, Kennedy was hired as a proofreader in Boston University’s publications office. He shortly enrolled part-time in BU’s College of Communication (COM). In 2004, he earned a master’s degree in journalism and began freelancing for the Boston Globe Magazine and Boston’s Weekly Dig. Switching departments in his day job at BU, he began writing for Bostonia, BU’s alumni quarterly, among other publications. In that capacity, he has interviewed and written about a range of well-known BU alumni and faculty—from Howard Zinn, the author of A People’s History of the United States, to Jackie Bruno, a.k.a. Miss Massachusetts USA.

In January 2007, Kennedy took over as editor of two periodicals, in addition to other writing and editing responsibilities in BU’s marketing and communications department. Under his tenure, the COM alumni magazine has received an award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Kennedy has persisted in moonlighting as a freelance writer when possible. His first book comes out in April from Thunder Bay Press: Boston Then and Now (2nd ed.) is a pictorial history of notable sites across Boston and its neighborhoods. And this spring, he is teaching a course on publication editing at Lasell College in Newton.

Although he works at BC’s big rival down the road, Kennedy maintains that he bleeds maroon and gold. This ironic state of affairs made for an entertaining video on BU’s online news daily: http://www.bu.edu/today/unknown-section/2007/09/16/line
