About The Budget Office

The Budget Office at Boston College facilitates:

  • Developing annual operating and capital budgets
  • Maintaining long-range financial planning models
  • Managing budgets for funds in the 1XX and 3XX ranges
  • Monitoring changes to these budgets with emphasis on maintaining good fiscal management with reasonable controls
  • Enforcing policy decisions regarding use of funds
  • Providing reports and data to assist management in making sound fiscal decisions
 

St. Thomas More Hall

The Budget Office is located in room 300 on the top floor of More Hall which is just off Commonwealth Avenue in the northeast section of the main campus.

Items Processed by the Budget Office Include:

  • Budget transfers: all permanent, temporary on restricted lines, income, non-positioned salaries (grad assistants and students), direct cost, positioned salary not within normal activity
  • EVP memo funding requests
  • PeopleSoft Financials Department creates and updates, as well as changes to department hierarchies once approved through the appropriate process
  • PeopleSoft Financials Program creates and updates once approved through the appropriate process
  • PeopleSoft Financials Security access updates for additional department(s) or a different default department
  • Supplemental payments
  • Annual Review Increments

Items NOT processed by the Budget Office include:

  • Any fund activity that is not 1XX or 3XX
  • System problems, contact the FMS helpdesk or ext. 2-2100
  • Initial user security setup or changes to PeopleSoft Financials or Vista Reporting security, contact the P1 (Principal User) for the department. The P1 should submit the request for FVP approval to the FMS helpdesk
  • Position creates/updates
  • Cash deposits
  • General Ledger journal transfers (shared costs between departments, purchase of department telephones/lines, Media Technology Services), send an email to the Accounting Department at jeomail@bc.edu
  • Time/timeslips
