boston college bands: pep band
Thank you for your interest in the Boston College Pep Band!
The Boston College Pep Band offers the excitement of performing in Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Men’s and Women's Hockey events from October through April. With a membership of approximately 140 students per year, the Pep Band provides a well-balanced 20-member band at athletic events during the Winter Sports season. The Pep Band is the musical voice of Boston College athletic traditions from nearly a century of Hockey and Basketball.
Pep Band members travel to fun and exciting events and get airtime on regional and national sports broadcasts. In recent years, the band has traveled to the Men's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Women's Hockey Frozen Four/National Championship, Hockey East Tournament, BeanPot Tournament, Women's Basketball ACC Tournament, and Men's Basketball ACC Tournament. These locations include Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Tampa, Florida, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and New York City.
Students with experience on piccolo, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, mellophone, trombone, baritone, sousaphone, drum set, and auxiliary percussion, guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards are encouraged to participate!
One semester of Marching Band is encouraged for new Pep Band members. Instruction of by professional staff in the Marching Band prepares students for participation in the Pep Band. As the material is taught by professional staff during Band Camp, there is only one rehearsal in the fall semester for BCMB students and then weekly Friday afternoon rehearsals in the Spring!
Drum Set positions are assigned by auditions with the Director and the Section Instructor.
Students who do not participate in the Marching Band will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, choreography and the music repertoire during weekly rehearsals beginning in September and continuing until April. To learn more about participating in the Pep Band, please email the Pep Band Student Executive Board at bcpepband(at)gmail.com. We look forward to meeting with you during the semester!
