Golden Eagles Dance Team
boston college bands: "screaming eagles" marching band
The Golden Eagles Dance Team adds sparkle and spirit to Game Day on The Heights! The GEDT is part of the “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band, which is comprised not only of Boston College students, but also partners with schools throughout the Boston area. The Golden Eagles perform with the instrumentalists in parades, pep rallies, halftime shows, and on the sidelines at home football games, giving this Dance Team the unique opportunity of performing in Alumni Stadium, on the field, for as many as 45,000 fans! In addition to football games, the Golden Eagles dance at many community events, in Boston College’s Week of Dance, and spring Arts Festival. The Team has traveled from Louisiana to New York City to Dublin, Ireland and has performed with the Boston Pops, Macklemore and in the 2012 Presidential Inaugural Parade. Join BC’s most active and visible dance organization!
The Team rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday (6:45-10:00pm), September through November. Members must participate in all home football games and predetermined Marching Band functions, with the potential opportunity to travel to away and post-season events. In the Spring season, the Team rehearses one night a week in preparation for BC's annual Arts Festival, a three day community event on campus, showcasing the University's talented arts community.
Auditions for the Golden Eagles Dance Team are conducted on a rolling basis. Prospective dancers may submit a previously recorded video, or learn and record choreography as provided by the GEDT. Dancers will be expected to show a mastery of technique in a variety of disciplines, including jazz, kick, and lyrical, as well as high-energy performance skills.
