University Wind Ensemble of Boston College
boston college bands: university wind ensemble
The development of the University Wind Ensemble marks a milestone in the evolution of musical performance at Boston College. The ensemble was introduced in the Fall of 2005 in order to create performance opportunities more reflective of the talent, needs, and desires of the students.
University Wind Ensemble members, chosen by competitive audition, are highly skilled, highly motivated students for whom making music is a personal priority. The ensemble performs the finest musical literature written for winds and percussion.
The University Wind Ensemble also gives students the opportunity to perform literature specifically designed for smaller chamber ensembles, which greatly contributes to their development and will broaden the selection of performances for the Boston College community.
Every member of the University Wind Ensemble will receive private lessons at no cost.
Scholarships are available to members of the University Wind Ensemble.
This ensemble also serves as the "parent organization" for a Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Honors Woodwind Quintet, Honors Brass Quintet, and a Percussion Ensemble, as well as a number of other mixed and like-instrument chamber ensembles.
The University Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Sebastian Bonaiuto, Director of Bands. For current information and to speak with a Bands Program staff member, please call 617-552-3018 or email the Bands Program at email@example.com
