Computer Operation Controls

Systems are not available.  Jobs do not run and data is not updated.

• Jobs should be monitored for completeness.
• Abended jobs should be resolved in a timely manner.
• Access to job schedulers should be restricted to appropriate operations staff.

Computer assets are stolen.

• Critical computer equipment should be located in a locked room that is only accessible by the systems administrator.

Critical data is damaged.

• Backup of data should be performed on a regular basis and backup media should be stored off-site.

Data cannot be saved since hard drive space is full.

• Proper hardware maintenance should be done on a regular basis.
