Community for Creative Enactments

An interactive comedic murder mystery. Discretion advised. O’Connell House

7:30-10:00

Midsummer Night’s Dream

This drama is one of Shakespeare's greatest and most popular comedies. Its intertwined love polygons get complicated right from the start: Demetrius and Lysander both want Hermia, but she only has eyes for Lysander; and Hermia's father wants Demetrius for a son-in-law. So Hermia and Lysander elope "into the woods," leaving Demetrius and Helena, who leaves Lysander behind. Only they don't stay behind. In the forest, they cross paths with Oberon and Titania (King and Queen of the faeries), who are having a spat over a servant boy from the East. The plot twists up when Oberon's head mischief-maker, Puck, runs loose with a flower which causes people to fall in love with the first thing they see upon waking. Throw in a group of laborers preparing a play for the Duke's wedding, and the complications become fantastically funny. Robsham Theater Arts Center
