BC Arts Festival: Stokes Art Tent Gallery Submissions

Share Your Story: Submit Artwork for the Stokes Art Tent Gallery

Read the directions below before you submit your Submission Form.

Submission is a three-step process. To ensure that your submission is considered, read all of the following BEFORE submitting your work. The deadline for submissions is April 15th, 2016.
The artwork will be displayed in the Stokes Art Tent Gallery throughout the 2016 Arts Festival- Thursday April 28th through Saturday April 30th.


1. Submissions Form

  • Complete a submissions form for each piece that you submit (max 5).
  • Before you click "Submit", right-click and print a copy of your submission form (or alternatively write the information from the form on a piece of paper).
  • Attach the printed form or the written information to the the back of your work. 

2. Drop Off

  • Drop off in Carney 204 at one of the following times:
    • Wednesday April 20th, 11 AM - 2:00 PM 
    • Thursday, April 21st, 2:00 - 6:00 PM
    • Friday, April 22nd, 11:00 AM - 4:00PM
  • Submitted artwork must be ready to hang; paintings on canvas must be wired and works on paper (drawings, watercolors and photographs) must be framed and wired.
  • Corresponding submissions form must be attached to each work.

3. Pick up

  • Artists may pick up their work on Saturday, April 30th, 5:00 - 6:00 PM in the Art Tent on Stokes Lawn.
  • Work not collected by this time will be brought back to the submissions storage space, Carney 204, for you to retrieve. Remember, the longer your work stays there, the greater risk you take of losing it.
  • Neither the Arts Festival nor the Fine Arts Department are responsible for your work after 6:00 PM, April 30th.

  • Only Boston College students may submit artwork to the BC Arts Festival.
  • Maximum of five pieces per student.
  • Every effort will be made to keep artwork secure, however, students submit at their own risk. Again, the Arts Festival and the Fine Arts Department are NOT responsible for any work not picked up by the artist or their representative by Saturday, April 30th, 6:00 PM.
  • The exhibits are curated by Fine Arts faculty and the gallery staff. Not all submissions will be accepte, and there is no guarantee that your work will be displayed in the Stokes Art Tent. Some work will be displayed in Devlin Hall, and some work may not be displayed.



Works submitted to the exhibition are eligible for Critics' Choice Awards with cash prizes. Awards are selected by a jury of professional artists and faculty. Awards will be presented at the Stokes Art Tent Gallery Opening on Thursday, April 23, 4:30-6:00 PM at the Arts Festival.


Art For Sale

  • Works of art on exhibit in the Art Tent can be sold at the Arts Festival.
  • Artists must set a price when the work is submitted. The Arts Festival will advertise that this price is non-negotiable.
  • The Arts Festival tent volunteers will collect cash or checks (checks made out to the artist), or will coordinate a direct buyer-to-artist transaction through the smartphone app Venmo.
  • Artists will receive an envelope with their revenue at a time to be arranged with the Art Tent Director on site.
  • Work sold will be labeled with a red sticker. Purchasers may not pick up their work until after the festival is over. (Saturday evening, 5:00 - 6:00 PM.)
