Professor Hubert E. Walters has been the Musical Director of the Voices of Imani since 1982. While the group is student-sponsored, it also serves as a Lab for the courses he teaches. In the formative years, the group's repertoire consisted mainly of "contemporary gospel style literature." Under Prof. Walters' direction, the group's repertoire, has expanded to include Arranged Spirituals, Traditional Gospel Songs, Anthems, Selections form Oratorios and Cantatas, Gospel Masses, and compositions from the European Classical Tradition.  During these years the group has toured in California, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. Voices of Imani, also known as the Gospel Workshop, is frequently called upon to perform at various Campus-Related activities and regularly performs for local churches and civic organizations.  The group has also accompanied a number of professional singers and entertainers.
