Susan Breen ‘91
Painter, Art Editor
Susan Breen is a painter, represented by Woodward Gallery in New York City. She recently contributed a silkscreen and sound piece to Wu-shan Inc. / Sony Legacy Recordings’ release 15 Minutes: Homage to Andy Warhol (including work from Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, and others), which opened at the Pollock Krasner House this past summer, is now on view at the Andy Warhol Museum, and will be traveling to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Beijing in 2012. Susan’s work has also been exhibited in venues including Woodward Gallery, the Islip Art Museum, the Housatonic Museum of Art, the Barnum Museum, the Cahoon Museum of American Art, Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Gale Gates Gallery, City Lights Gallery, the Gallery at Roundabout, and the Huntsville Museum of Art, among others. Publications include ArtNews, New York Times, ArtKrush, Denver Quarterly, Illustration Magazine, Bridgeport News, and Star Ledger. She holds a BA in Studio Art from Boston College, and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts. Susan is Art Editor of Post Road Magazine, now published by the Department of English at Boston College.
Jane Conway Caspe ‘83
Jane Conway Caspe graduated from BC in 1983 with a B.A. in Psychology. During her junior year she started working as a model for runway, television, and advertising. This sparked her interest in fashion and design, and she has since been working in the fashion industry for the past 28 years. She owns two fashion related businesses, ACK Originals and The Nantucket Doll Collection, Inc. She is an executive manager and partner at Wildflower Concierge and co-authored a book called The Nantucket Diet published by Random House in 2005. She is on the Board of Trustees at the School of Fashion Design and works as a representative and speaker for the school. She is also on the Board of Directors at Fashion Group International and organizes as well as participates in Boston Fashion Week. This year three BC students that she met last year at the Arts Festival attended one of the Fashion Week events with her. She is proud to be helping them get started in the fashion industry. She also had a designer hire a BC student that she met last year at Career Night to photograph her fashion show. The same Boston designer also had a BC senior working for her last spring.
Maureen Donovan DeLuca ‘78
Deputy Director, Harvard Art Museums
Maureen Donovan graduated from Boston College in 1978, majoring in Art History and English. A senior-year internship in the Department of European Paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, focusing on exhibition planning and management piqued her interest in museum work and in having direct experience with works of art. After graduation, she began working at the Harvard Art Museums, eventually becoming Director of the Division of Collections Management. In 2010 she became Deputy Director of the Harvard Art Museums. In addition to overseeing the administrative departments of the Art Museums, she is deeply involved in a comprehensive renovation and expansion project for the Harvard Art Museums.
Donnamarie Floyd ‘88
Still one of the area’s most sought after digital effects artists, Donnamarie adds sparkle to the video presentations of varied clients like John Hancock, Staples, Kronos, Teradyne, HealthcareSource and the National Fire Protection Agency. Her start almost 20 years ago on cutting edge technology earned her the title of the area’s first female Flame Artist. Her DBA award winning projects from the likes of ESPN, Discovery Channel, HGTV, History Channel, TLC and Animal Planet were ground breaking. She realized this talent could be utilized in the corporate arena as well and created a media company, ThelmaWorld with her partner and husband, writer-producer Jim Floyd. She has seen her work used in national and international forums, working regularly on presentations for audiences in Las Vegas and Orlando as well on stages in palaces in Rome and Madrid, and among the Mayan ruins in Mexico. And, of course, with the burgeoning use of video on the web, her effects have now also affected viewing audiences the world over.
Mark Haddad ‘87
Mark, principal of Haddad Hakansson LLC, a full-service interior design firm, creates home environments for clients throughout New England and the east coast. A Massachusetts native, Mark received his M.Ed. in Creative Arts Education from Lesley University and earned certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) from the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). Prior to beginning his own business in 2001, Mark worked as a music teacher and school administrator as well as a vocalist and musical director throughout the Boston area. Currently, he is the choir director at The Church of St. John of Damascus in Dedham and is on the faculty at Boston Architectural College in the Kitchen and Bath Design Certification Program.

John Kirby founded Boston Art, Inc. on September 1, 2001, to provide art acquisition and management services to clients in the Corporate, Healthcare and Hospitality industries. John has over 25 years of experience as an art consultant assisting companies of all sizes in finding appropriate art solutions. Since the inception of Boston Art, the company has expanded its scope to provide art programs for clients in many fields and for residential projects throughout New England and the tri-state area. Over the last ten years, John has trained and cultivated an experienced staff of art consultants and master framers who are dedicated to helping clients create extraordinary spaces through the addition of well-chosen artwork. Karen Stein ‘96
Karen Stein is a designer, educator and public artist. In 2008, she co-founded the design firm goodgood, embracing a cross-disciplinary, collaborative approach. Her work traverses various design mediums including: print, web, environmental design, as well as new media. She considers socio-cultural, economic and environmental factors to be an integral part of the design process. She has received multiple public arts grants, including one for a lighting sculpture appearing on the Harbor Pavilion this coming First Night. She graduated from Boston College in 1996 with a double major in Philosophy and Political Science, and received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Visual Communication. In addition to her design practice, she has taught at local colleges including the Museum School, MassArt, Tufts and UMass Dartmouth.
William M. Vareika ‘74
Art Dealer, Gallery Owner
William Vereika is an art gallery owner, specialist in 19th century American art, writer, lecturer, community activist, preservationist, and philanthropist. Bill is a 1974 graduate of Boston College and abandoned law school plans to volunteer to direct a six-year legal battle to save a historic John La Farge-decorated church in Newport, RI. He later took a leave of absence from graduate studies in American Civilization at Brown University in order to begin a career as an art dealer, opening his Bellevue Avenue Newport gallery in 1987. Bill has served on numerous boards and advisory committees of arts, cultural, environmental and education organizations, and has received many awards for his philanthropic work. He served as Vice Chairman of the RI State Council on the Arts and serves on the RI State House Restoration Society. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by Salve Regina University on May 15, 2011. Bill and Alison Vareika have three children and four dogs, and live in an 1877 National Historic Register home in Newport, which they have been restoring for twenty-five years.
T.K. McClintock ‘75
T.K. McClintock graduated from Boston College in 1975 (Art History) and from the Cooperstown Graduate Program in the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in 1980. After advanced training at museums and regional centers in North America and in Europe, he founded a private studio in 1990 devoted to the conservation of works on paper for institutions, private and public agencies and galleries in North America, Europe and Asia. The research interests that have been the subject of his professional publications and presentations include the conservation of historic wallpapers, architectural drawings, Japanese screens and other Asian works and historic globes. He has lectured at university graduate programs in the United States, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, France and Malta. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation, the International Institute for Conservation and the American Academy in Rome, and is an Accredited Conservator-Restorer of the Institute of Conservation (UK).
Chuck Hogan ‘89
Chuck Hogan is the New York Times bestselling author of several acclaimed novels, including DEVILS IN EXILE and PRINCE OF THIEVES, which was awarded the Hammett Prize for "literary excellence in the field of crime writing" and was adapted into the film THE TOWN, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, with Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, and Blake Lively. He is also the co-author, with Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (PAN'S LABYRINTH) of the international bestselling STRAIN TRILOGY, of which the final volume, THE NIGHT ETERNAL, was published worldwide last month. His non-fiction has appeared in The New York Times and ESPN The Magazine, and his short fiction has twice been anthologized in THE BEST AMERICAN MYSTERY STORIES annual.
Peter Keough ‘79
Peter Keough has been the Film Editor of “The Boston Phoenix” since 1989 and is a member of the Boston Society of Film Critics, the National Society of Film Critics, and the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI). In 1995 he edited “Flesh and Blood: The National Society of Film Critics on Sex, Violence and Censorship,” published by Mercury House and is currently editing a book of interviews with Kathryn Bigelow for the University Press of Mississippi. He has participated in numerous FIPRESCI festival juries, including Toronto, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Sydney, Thessaloniki, Turin, and Karlovy Vary.

Tim Lemire ‘89
TIM LEMIRE (BA English, ’89) is the author of seven books, including the career guide "I'm An English Major--Now What?" (Writer's Digest, 2006). While at BC, Tim wrote for The Heights and The Stylus, and he cofounded The Contemporary Theatre of Boston College. Tim has his MFA in creative writing from the University of Michigan, and he has worked in education, journalism, corporate communications, and freelance editing. Currently, he is a copywriter at CVS in Rhode Island.
Alexis Rizzuto ‘92
Rizzuto received her BA in English at Boston College (class of 1992) and her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Emerson College, where her work won the DuPrey Award. She has taught creative nonfiction at Cazenovia College, Syracuse University and Grub Street Writers. Alexis learned the publishing business through working at the Kneerim & Williams literary agency and as an editor at Da Capo Press. She is currently the environmental editor at Beacon Press in Boston, MA.

The Celebrity Series is in its seventh decade of presenting the best in music, dance and the performing arts from around the world to culturally diverse audiences. Many internationally known artists have made their Boston debuts, and often their American debuts, through the Celebrity Series, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Yo-Yo Ma, Denyce Graves, Emanuel Ax, Cecilia Bartoli, Wynton Marsalis, and Luciano Pavarotti. As New England’s premiere presenting organization, the Celebrity Series presents a broad range of multi-cultural and international artists and ensembles such as: Bernadette Peters, Patti Lu Pone, Audra McDonald, The American Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet, The Kirov Ballet, The Berlin Philharmonic, The Vienna Philharmonic, and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra to audiences in the greater Boston area. Similar organizations to the Celebrity Series are Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center. His responsibilities include development and administration of all fiscal activities relating to the 40-50 events and the Series’ $6 million annual budget. Michael also acts and was seen last season as The King in the The King and I at the Turtlelane Playhouse. Michael graduated Boston College with a BA in Economics & Political Science in 1984.

Ron Domingo received an OBIE Award for his performance in the original Off-Broadway production of The Romance of Magno Rubio. A veteran stage actor, he has worked with many respected theater companies including Manhattan Theater Club, Long Wharf Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company & Second Stage Theatre. Mr. Domingo’s television appearances include Pan Am, Law & Order, SVU, CI, & Trial By Jury, As The World Turns, Rescue Me & Kitchen Confidential. Film credits include Tenderness starring Russell Crowe, Robot Stories (Slamdance), The Motel (Sundance) and the lead role in Slow Jam King. Kerry Dowling ‘87
Kerry A. Dowling is a member of Actor’s Equity living and working in Boston. She graduated from Boston College in 1987 with an undergraduate degree in English and Theater; and earned her Masters in Finance in 2001. Kerry is Director of Leasing for a real estate development company, and is currently on the Board of SpeakEasy Stage Company. Kerry’s performance credits include: Steel Magnolias (Stoneham Theater); The Most Happy Fella (Gloucester Stage); The Drowsy Chaperone, Nine, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, The New Century; The Mystery of Edwin Drood; The Women; Bat Boy: The Musical; Company (IRNE Award); Elegies: A Song Cycle; A New Brain; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; and Songs for a New World (SpeakEasy); Nicholas Nickleby and Follies (Lyric Stage); Into the Woods (New Rep); A Man of No Importance (Súgán/SpeakEasy). Amy McLaughlin Lemerande ‘97
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in the small town of Marshfield on the South Shore, Amy was the last of five siblings to attend Boston College where she majored in English and Theatre Arts. While at BC Amy performed in many productions at Robsham theatre as well as spent the summer of 1996 at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating in May 1997, Amy worked at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton where she taught theatre to disabled and terminally ill children for two years. She then attended Trinity Rep Conservatory in Providence, Rhode Island, and received her M.F.A. in Theatre Arts in May 2002. While at Trinity, Amy spent her summers teaching drama at Tufts Children’s Creative Arts Camp in Medford, MA. Upon graduating from Trinity, Amy joined Shenandoah Shakespeare in Staunton, VA, where she met her future husband and partner, Tyrus Lemerande. In 2003, Amy and Ty founded Knighthorse Theatre Company, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Shakespeare to students of all ages. Specializing in one and two person adaptations of Shakespeare, Knighthorse performs at schools, colleges, festivals and communities across the country and around the world. While her husband and partner was deployed in Kabul, Afghanistan, Amy spent the summer of 2011 performing two one-woman shows in Wellfleet, MA; Shakespeare's Women: Bound by Love & Touched by War. Brett Marks ‘06
Brett Marks is an actor, director, and producer in Boston. His recent directing credits include Junkie (Argos Productions), Robin Hood (Acton-Boxborough Regional High School), Book of Days (Bad Habit Productions), Glengarry Glen Ross (Independent Drama Society), Cherry Smoke (Gurnet Theatre Project) and multiple pieces in the Boston Theatre Marathon on behalf of the Huntington Theatre Company, The Lyric Stage Company, Orfeo Group, and others. He was previously the Producing Associate at The Lyric Stage Company and under the Growing Voices New Play Development program there, directed numerous readings of plays by local playwrights. Prior to the Lyric, he worked as the Assistant to the Artistic Director at the Huntington Theatre Company. Marks is also an actor, having worked with Zeitgeist Stage, Company One, Gurnet Theatre Project, Way Theatre Artists, SAMM Entertainment, and the Vokes Players. Brett holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Boston College (A&S '06) and currently works for Boston University. Upcoming projects include directing new play Wandaleria by David Valdes Greenwood, producing Murph by Catherine O'Neill, and choosing a new set of plays for Argos Productions.
Kara Robbins ‘04
Arts Administration – Music
Kara Robbins ’04 found a home for her English degree in Arts Administration. She began her career on the community arts level with the New Philharmonia Orchestra in Newton. With the New Phil Kara co-founded an extensive music education program in South Boston that is now in its 7th year. She also created outreach programs in Boston’s suburbs and was charged with marketing, development and concert management. Kara later honed her development skills at The Boston Conservatory but returned to her community arts roots this year as both the Associate Director of the New Phil and the Program Director of the Newton Cultural Alliance. For each group Kara focuses on arts outreach and education, community development and economic stimulus. She is currently establishing lasting and working partnership programs between the local business and arts communities. Kara has also worked for the BSO's Tanglewood Music Center and holds a Masters in Teaching.
Carolyn Rock '05
Arts Administration - Dance
Carolyn Rock graduated with a major in History and minor in International Studies. Her interest in arts administration began at BC and continued to grow as she took an increasingly active role in the Arts Festival. She worked in various production and marketing roles all four years at BC, ultimately taking on the administrative assistant position for the Arts Council her senior year. Currently, Ms. Rock is in her fifth year working for Boston Ballet School. In her current capacity as Administration Manager, she oversees the business operations of BBS, a $6 million dollar business unit of Boston Ballet and the largest ballet school in North America.
Jere Shea ‘87
Arts Fundraiser and Actor
Jere is Senior Development Officer for Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, soliciting major gifts for annual operations and strategic priorities, overseeing planned giving, and providing guidance on capital campaign strategy. Also a classically trained actor and singer-songwriter, Jere has starred in several Broadway productions including Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees and Stephen Sondheim’s Passion (Theater World Award, Tony Award Nomination, Drama Desk Nomination). Film and TV credits include “Passion” (PBS), “Path to Paradise”(HBO), “Law and Order”, “Cosby Mysteries”, “A Season in Purgatory” (CBS miniseries), “The Most Dangerous Woman In America” (PBS), and the Boston-based feature film Southie with Donnie Wahlburg. A former Special Advisor to Governor Paul Cellucci, Jere offers communication skills training and guidance to individuals in business and politics. He has served on the faculties of Emerson College and the College of the Holy Cross, and has lectured at Boston College.
Tom Spataro ‘01
Youth Performing Arts and Education
Tom Spataro graduated from Boston College in 2001 with a degree in Music. Since then, Tom has held various positions in the music industry, from instructing and consulting at both high school and college levels, to freelance performing, and hand-crafting trombones with the S.E. Shires Company. In the early 2000s, Tom was heavily involved in the Boston College Bands Program, teaching and designing for the Marching Band as well as directing the BC Pep Band for three years. Tom has been Executive Director of the 13-time Drum Corps International finalist Boston Crusaders since 2008. In 2011, he was named CEO of Inspire Arts and Music, the parent company of the Boston Crusaders and Mass Bay Music Festivals. Tom is also a member of the Drum Corps International Board of Directors and was recently named the 2011 Director of the Year at DCI World Championships in Indianapolis, IN.
