Realizing there is a strong need to support all AHANA students and that services on the Chestnut Hill campus are not readily accessible to students on the Newton Campus, the Office of AHANA Student Programs established a satellite office there. The Father Ellacuría AHANA Resource Center is located in Cushing Hall in Newton.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2003, the Office of AHANA Student Programs invited the college community to celebrate the Rededication of the Father Ellacuría AHANA Resource Center. The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by former Academic Counselor Steven Viveiros and former OASP Director Dr. Donald Brown. We were also honored by Father Douglas Marcouiller's presence who spoke to the guests about the late Father Ignacio Ellacuría. Awards of appreciation were then given to the constituencies who made the Resource Center a reality: the staff of Residential Life and Mr. Robert Calpalbo, who now works in the University Development office. Before guests enjoyed refreshments, they witnessed the ribbon cutting to officially re-open the Father Ellacuría AHANA Resource Center.
For those who are living on the Newton Campus this year, the AHANA Resource Center (ARC) allows a more readily accessible office for services that the Office of AHANA Student Programs provides. Located in Cushing Hall, its purpose is to reach out to the freshmen who otherwise might not know about OASP and what it offers the students. It is there to support the academic, social, cultural, and spiritual development of Newton students. Mr. Warren Chiang (Academic Counselor) and his staff have office hours where students can do walk-in appointments or schedule a meeting with him at the ARC.
Warren's ARC Office Hours: To be determined - You can call or email him directly for an appointment 617-552-3359 or warren.chiang.1@bc.edu .
