The third annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration at Boston College features keynote speaker Arar Han ’03, co-editor of the essay collection Asian American X: An Intersection of Twenty-First Century Asian American Voices (University of Michigan, 2004), a project she conceived while still a Boston College student. In light of the the theme of this year’s celebration, “expressing identity through art,” she discusses the struggle to reconcile her own ethnic identity with the often troubling representations of Asian Americans found in popular art and advertising.
Father William P. Leahy gave a brief remark and Han was introduced by Ramsay Liem, a professor of psychology at Boston College.

APAHM 2005 Committee was led by Megha Jain '05 & Romeo Ymalay '06. The APAHM committee worked hard organizing many events at BC. And this year, in support of the Asian Pacific community abroad, the APAHM committee created and sold t-shirts and cookbooks. The committee also held a silent auction for a number of photographs donated by Daniel Tu. All proceeds were donated to the Mercy Corps tsunami relief effort.
