VOLUME 16 NUMBER 1
SPRING 2015

Message from Tom Wall, University Librarian

On behalf of the Boston College Libraries and in furthering our commitment to "value beyond discovery" I am excited to announce that our new eScholarship@BC is live and ready to showcase faculty and student work.

eScholarship@BC is a sharing and preservation solution for your scholarship. It gives your work greater visibility, readership and impact. It provides access to Boston College scholarship throughout the world, supporting our educational and social justice missions. As more funders require open access to research outputs, eScholarship@BC provides an easy compliance mechanism that ensures preservation as well as access.

The new platform is built on open-source software that provides enhanced features for depositors and for readers:

  • Permanent links to each item to embed in a CV or web page
  • Better Google Scholar indexing to provide more visibility, citations and impact
  • Record-view statistics on each item
  • Cover pages for each item, to provide context when accessed through search engines
  • Interface features such as "Most viewed" and "Recent additions"
  • Enhanced search features and faceted browsing

The new repository can store and provide access to a wide range of formats, including text, images, video and data.

We have provided an easy deposit form for users. We're looking forward to showcasing your work and would be happy to hear how we might improve this service for you.

Please visit escholarship.bc.edu today to get started. Contact your departmental liaison or ask at any of our Libraries for further assistance.

As always, feel free to contact me with concerns, suggestions and ideas.
