Benezit Dictionary of Artists

Benezit Dictionary of Artists

A recent Library acquisition is the Benezit Dictionary of Artists, a database that contains nearly 170,000 biographical entries on artists across all media, from painters and sculptors to calligraphers, ceramicists, illustrators, installation artists, and performance artists. In addition, there are detailed museum listings, bibliographies, exhibition information, and auction records. Benezit is also particularly useful for its excellent coverage of more obscure artists and the inclusion of images of artists' signatures, monograms, and stamps. An added key feature is the ability to view Benezit results separately or alongside Grove Art and other Oxford art reference works.

Polling the Nations

Polls are an integral part of everyday life with results reported daily in the media. Survey information provides much of the basic underpinning for newspaper and magazine articles, radio and television news reports and speeches of public officials. Polling the Nations is a particularly useful database of public opinion polls containing the full text of 600,000+ questions and responses, from 18,000+ surveys and 1,700+ polling organizations, conducted from 1986 through the present in the United States and more than 100 other countries around the world. Please note that access to this database is limited to 4 simultaneous users.
