Christian Dupont: New Burns Librarian

Christian Dupont

Christian Dupont became the new Burns Librarian and Associate University Librarian effective September 1.

Christian brings extensive background in special collections and archives management. His previous positions include serving as director of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia and the Special Collections Research Center at Syracuse University. Since 2008, he has worked with Atlas Systems, a Virginia-based library software development firm, to create and promote Aeon, the first online user request and workflow management system for special collections and archives.

Christian holds a master's degree in information science from Indiana University and Ph.D. in theology from the University of Notre Dame, where he also held curatorial and reference positions in special collections.

Christian has been an active contributor to several professional and academic associations. He has served as chair of ACRL's Rare Book and Manuscripts Section and has been recently appointed to co-chair a joint task force to develop standardized statistical measures with the Society of American Archivists. He has presented and published widely on topics pertaining to library and archives management as well as his varied scholarly interests, which include continental philosophy and theology, the reception of Dante in America, and nineteenth-century American history and literature.
