The Document Services Center in O'Neill Library offers a variety of services focused on the delivery of images. Staff will photocopy and scan for library users on site, while a Locate & Copy document retrieval/delivery service allows users to send in online requests. Fax machines for public use allow for sending and receiving of faxed documents.

Photocopying
The cost for photocopying is $.15 per page ($.30 for two-sided copies). This service is provided when the Document Services Center is open and payment can be made in cash, by check or by departmental charge.
The center focuses on material from the O'Neill Library collection and, while most copying requests can be accommodated, over-the-counter requests for photocopies from copyrighted materials are limited to one chapter per book and one article per issue of a journal.
Scanning
Document Services staff members will scan material for users. Scanning can be saved to a flash drive or sent to users via email as attachments.
The cost for scanning is $.15 per page for items dropped off at the Document Services Center desk and $.20 per page for material retrieved from the O'Neill collections by Document Services staff members (Locate & Copy Service).

Locate and Copy Service
The Document Services Center staff will retrieve books and journals from the O'Neill Library shelves and photocopy or scan the requested material Monday thru Friday, when the Document Services Center is staffed. The requested material can be picked up at the Document Services Center, sent via campus mail, or sent to an individual e-mail account. Payment can be made by cash, by check, or by department charge. If payment is by cash or check, material must be picked up at the Document Services Center. The cost is $.20 per page.
Payment for copies that are sent to individual e-mail accounts (other than those charged to a department) can be made at the Document Services Center during library hours. If payment for student requests is not received within 30 days, charges will be transferred to the university Student Accounts system.

You will receive an e-mail from the O'Neill Library with the subject Document Delivery Notification. The article you requested will be attached to the e-mail message usually as a PDF file.
View received documents within 48 hours; notify the O'Neill Document Services Center (617-552-4453) if documents are not legible or need retransmission for other reasons. Documents are deleted from the delivery queue after 48 hours.
Image files can consume considerable space in your mail. Once you have read and/or printed received documents it is best to delete them from the University's mail server. You may move them to a local folder in your mail or save them to a file on your hard drive if you wish to retain them on your computer.
Remember that U.S. Copyright guidelines prohibit you from printing more than one copy or forwarding the document to other users.
Faxes
The Document Services Center is equipped with a fax machine for public use. Outgoing transmissions are free, a calling card will be provided for your use at the desk.
You may receive faxes at the Document Services Center using this telephone number: 617-552-8828. Faxes received at this number are forwarded to your e-mail account as an attachment. Incoming faxes remain on file for three days and can be printed at the Document Services Center if problems are encountered when opening the fax attached to your email.
Self-Service Photocopying
Library users can make photocopies by using the self-service photocopiers located in the Thomas P. O'Neill Jr. Library, Bapst Library, the Educational Resource Center, the Law Library, the Social Work Library, and the Theology and Ministry Library with the purchase of a Copicard or with coins on selected machines.

Copicards for Photocopying and Printing
Copicards may be used for photocopying and printing on machines throughout the libraries. Copicards for $50 are sold at the Document Services Center in O'Neill (available at the Circulation desk when the Document Services Center is closed), Bapst Library, the Educational Resource Center, or the Social Work Library.
Academic and administrative departments of Boston College may purchase a Copicard directly through MacGray/Copico using a P-Card. Contact the Document Services Center for further information.
A $.30 charge for a new Copicard is included in the above prices. Save money and help the environment by reusing the card. Add value to it at a machine listed below.
