24-Hour Study Space Opens in Bapst Library
The Boston College Libraries are pleased to announce that Gargan Hall in Bapst Library will now be open for quiet study 24 hours a day, Sunday through Thursday, on a trial basis. Vending machines with snacks, bottled water, and soft drinks have been added to the Bapst Library to make studying even more of a pleasure! Items purchased at the machines may be taken into Gargan Hall. Like other locations on campus, Gargan Hall provides wireless access to the campus network for users with wireless-enabled laptop computers.
Gargan Hall will be open for quiet study, with a security officer on-site, five nights a week (Sunday through Thursday) when classes are in session and seven nights a week when exams are scheduled. Hours will be posted in Gargan Hall as well as on the Libraries' website.
An evaluation of the 24-hour study trial will be conducted at the end of the spring semester. The opening of Gargan Hall for round-the-clock study was made possible through a cooperative effort of the staff of the Libraries, the Office of Student Affairs, and the Executive Vice President’s Office. Our thanks to UGBC President Santiago Bunce and Vice President Justin Nunez for their work to make the 24-hour study space a reality.
