    2007-2008:

    Buying Time for Peace -  a 35-minute documentary film - Tuesday, November 6th at 4:30PM in  Carney 104, presented by its producer, Bruno Donat, BC ’95, a communications officer from the World Bank and a native of Mauritius. The film describes an ongoing UN/World Bank project focused on the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of combatants and child-soldiers in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Congo. Mr. Donat will also share his experiences and ideas about career and volunteer opportunities with international organizations

    2004-2005:

    International Studies Major Wins Fulbright Award

    Melanie Getreuer Melanie Getreuer '04, who graduated in May with an International Studies major and an East European/Russian Studies minor, will study the effect of American financial assistance on the town of Novosibirsk, Russia.     2003-2004:

    Solar Power in Africa

    Christina Keller Christina Keller, an International Studies major who graduated in May 2003, recently visited Uganda to work on rural electrification. She is employed by the Environmental Resources Trust in Washington, D.C., where she is office manager for the Solar Lights for Africa project. Her work also has recently taken her to Milan, Italy, as a representative to the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference.     Controversy in Cancun

    BC Magazine Cover Prof. David Deese (Political Science) had a front-row seat at the World Trade Organization talks in Cancun, Mexico in September. Prof. Deese, who is writing a book on the World Trade Organization, shares his views on the collapse of the trade talks in a recent interview with the Boston College Chronicle.     News from Baghdad

    BC Magazine Cover Lydia Khalil, an International Studies major who graduated in 2002, is working on the Policy Staff of Ambassador Paul Bremer in Iraq for the summer. Lydia is currently pursuing graduate studies at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and has worked at the White House Homeland Security Council. New

    International Studies Major Wins Fulbright Award

    Gasson Hall Sarah Kuchinos '03 , who graduated in May with an International Studies major and an Asian Studies minor, will study urban development and planning in the industrial city of Harbin, China. Her future plans include graduate work and a career in economic development. Read about Sarah and BC's other Fulbright winners.

    Stephanie Valencia Stephanie Valencia, a junior International Studies major, has been awarded the Archbishop Oscar A. Romero Scholarship for 2003. Read about Stephanie and the other finalists.

    Revised International Studies Minor Approved
