Summary:  If you already own a computer, this page lists the minimum specifications your Windows or Macintosh computer should meet to work in the Boston College environment in 2008.

  • Note: Windows XP Home, Vista Home Basic, and Vista Home Premium editions are not designed to be connected to a network and are for home use only. To connect to the BC Network, you must upgrade to Windows XP Professional or Vista Business, which you can purchase at the New Window BC Bookstore.

Anti-Virus Protection
  • Make sure to install BC's version of Anti-Virus software (McAfee Enterprise) before you get to campus. If you do not install the BC Anti-Virus software on your computer, your network access may be discontinued until you do so.
