WebIT-Managed Site

1. Create a new folder on your hard drive where you will store all of your web files.
   • Give the folder a meaningful name such as webwork or deptsite.
   • Remember where you put the new folder because you will need to find it during the configuration process.
2. Launch Dreamweaver on your computer.
3. From the Dreamweaver toolbar, select Site > New Site...
4. You will now see the Site Definition window. Click on the Advanced tab.

Local Info

1. Select Local Info from the left side categories.
2. In the Site Name field, type in a descriptive name such as webdev or webwork.
3. In the Local Root Folder field, click on the folder icon. Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.

Remote Info

1. Select Remote Info from the left side categories.
2. From the Access drop down menu, select FTP.
3. In the FTP Host field, type in webwork.bc.edu.
4. In the Host Directory field type /usr/eaglenet/www/webdev/path/, where path is the unique path of your web site.
5. In the Login field, type your BC username in lowercase.
6. In the Password field, do not type your password for security purposes.
7. Do not select the Use Passive FTP or Use Firewall options.
8. Select the box next to Enable File Check In/Check Out.
9. Check out Files when Opening is optional.
10. In the Check out Name field, type your full name and telephone extension.
11. In the Email Address field, type your 'friendly' email address (i.e. jane.doe.1@bc.edu).
12. Click OK when finished.
13. A Dreamweaver dialog box may appear that says "the intial site cache is now being created..."
14. Click OK. This saves your changes and closes the Site Definition Window.

Independent or Student Organization Web Site

1. Create a new folder on your hard drive where you will store all of your web files.

4. In the Host Directory field type /usr/users/username/, where username is your Boston College username.
5. In the Login field, type your BC username in lowercase.
6. In the Password field, do not type your password for security purposes.
7. Do not select the Use Passive FTP or Use Firewall options.
8. Click OK when finished.
9. A Dreamweaver dialog box may appear that says "the intial site cache is now being created..."
10. Click OK. This saves your changes and closes the Site Definition Window.
11. All web pages and files must be placed in the www folder that you should see in your folder on the server. Download the www folder so that it appears in the local folder hierarchy.

MyFiles-Hosted Web Site

1. Create a new folder on your hard drive where you will store all of your web files.
   • Give the folder a meaningful name such as webwork or deptsite.
   • Remember where you put the new folder because you will need to find it during the configuration process.
2. Launch Dreamweaver on your computer.
3. From the Dreamweaver toolbar, select Site > New Site...
4. You will now see the Site Definition window. Click on the Advanced tab.

Local Info

4. Build your web pages and related files in Dreamweaver locally.

MyFiles Info

1. Log in to MyFiles@bc.
2. Create a folder as you normally would in your MyFiles space.
3. Upload your files to MyFiles:
   • Windows
     • Open up Web Folder access to your new MyFiles folder.
     • Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.
     • Drag and drop the web files you created into your MyFiles web folder.
   • Macintosh
     • Locate the folder you created on your hard drive in the first step of this tutorial.
     • Upload your web files individually via the MyFiles application interface.
