A Boston College Graduate School of Social Work education prepares students to understand the interplay of intrapsychic, interpersonal, social and cultural forces in the lives of clients. Of particular importance is sensitivity to race, ethnicity, gender and class. To achieve this, the MSW Program offers students a mix of solid structure and individualized course work to ready them for their professional careers. Faculty advisors work closely with students to promote depth of study, practice competence and marketability.

Master’s Program

The MSW Program is based on both class study and field placement in an agency. Students develop competence in clinical or macro practice and a special field of practice concentration.

Doctoral Program

The Doctoral Program prepares scholars committed to pursue knowledge that will advance the field of social welfare and social work practice.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education office encourages lifelong learning, sponsoring workshops that assist licensed social workers in expanding their skills.

International Programs

The international perspective at the GSSW is reflected not just in our diverse faculty and cross-cultural research, but in unique coursework and field experiences.
