Global Proficiency Program

office of international students and scholars

The Boston College Global Proficiency Program (GP) is a joint venture between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs and sponsored by the Office of International Students and Scholars and the Office of International Programs. It is aimed at encouraging commitment to a comprehensive global perspective, and documenting the achievements of Boston College students.

The Global Proficiency Program was created at Boston College in 1999. It is the first of its kind, and has inspired similar programs on campuses across the United States and abroad.

The GP program is a personal response to the challenges of globalization. The program combines an abroad experience, academic achievement, co-curricular activities, and community service to create well-rounded, broad-minded individuals capable of making competent and compassionate decisions that will shape a new world. Born out of the Jesuit liberal arts tradition, the program produces top caliber individuals with a diverse range of talents, experiences, and interests. Graduates are well equipped to seize new opportunities with vigor and understanding.
