Cura

What is Cura?

‘Cura’ is derived from the Latin cura personalis, the Jesuit concept of “care of the whole person.”  As Boston College’s version of Christian Life Communities (CLCs), Cura shares that tradition which is used in almost 60 countries around the world.  At BC, Cura is a large community composed of many small (6-10) person student-led groups rooted in the Christian tradition of Ignatian spirituality.

Participants engage in communal prayer, meditation, discussion, and activities (music, discussion of current events or topics of special interest) to foster a spirituality that is both active and contemplative.  Cura welcomes all students interested in building lasting bonds of friendship with fellow group members while reflecting together on their lives at Boston College.

MISSION STATEMENT

As Boston College Cura members our aim is to grow in awareness of God in our lives and in all things.  Rooted in Ignatian spirituality and scripture, Cura’s mission is to enable students to walk together on their personal faith journeys as they discern the past and present movement of God in their lives, reflecting on what this means for their own unique vocations.  Through prayer, meditation, discussion, and community gatherings, Cura facilitates the balanced integration of learning, faith, and justice in the daily life of its members.  We believe that this integrated spirituality will ultimately foster the health of the entire person, and so the health of the world.
