PS 436 Clinical Field Work in Psychology (Fall/Spring: 3)
Prerequisite:
PS 336
This course will provide students with an opportunity to integrate theoretical
and empirical work in clinical psychology with the real-life experience
of working in a clinical setting. Students will select, together with the
professor, a field placement (e.g., hospital, community clinic, day treatment
center, shelter, emergency hot line, preschool classroom, prison). Students'
work in the field will involve at least five hours per week with a minimum
of biweekly, on-site supervision. Weekly class meetings will focus on the
discussion of issues relevant to the direct application of mental health
services to child, adolescent, and adult patients.
