PS 331 Developmental Psychopathology (Fall/Spring: 3)
Prerequisite:
PS 260
This course will provide an introduction to the field of developmental psychopathology,
an area of psychology that combines the topics of developmental and abnormal
psychology in order to facilitate an understanding of maladaptive behavior
within a developmental framework. Course material will emphasize how aspects
of development bear upon the subsequent adaptation of an individual and
will generate an appreciation of normal and pathological behavior in the
context of the individual, his or her developmental history, and current
conditions. Examples of specific topics include the developmental impact
of parent-child attachment, child maltreatment, peer relationships, and
resilience in development.
