PO 522 International Institutions, Public and Private (Spring: 3)
This course explores the structures, processes, and impacts of international
institutions within the larger context of world politics. The course will
first review the contending theoretical perspectives regarding the effect(s)
that international institutions have on both interstate relations and political—economic
discourse within states. The course will then examine a number of international
institutions that are active in a diverse group of issue areas (e.g., security,
political-economic, humanitarian, and environment) on both the global and
regional levels.
