NU 672 Pathophysiologic Processes (Fall/Spring: 3)
Prerequisite:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or permission of the instructor.
This course focuses on the processes that underlie diseases and dysfunctions
that affect individuals across the lifespan. The emphasis is on central
concepts of pathophysiology, including alterations in cellular communication,
genetic mechanisms, homeostasis, cell growth regulation, metabolism, immunity,
and inflammation. These concepts are then applied in a systematic survey
of diseases within body systems. Current research, clinical examples, and
application to advanced nursing practice are incorporated throughout the
course.
