NU 416 Ethical Reasoning and Issues in Advanced Nursing Practice (Fall/Spring: 3)

The ethical responsibilities of the advanced practice nurse and current
ethical issues in health care are the focus of this course. Beginning with
the philosophical and moral foundations of nursing ethics, the course examines
the role of the advanced practice nurse in making ethical decisions related
to patient care. The moral responsibility of the nurse as patient advocate
is discussed in relation to selected ethical issues. Opportunity is provided
for the student to analyze selected ethical issues in specific patient situations
and in the popular press.
