Prerequisite:
EC 151 and MD 235
This course is an introduction to operations management. Operations, like
accounting, finance, marketing, and human resources, is one of the primary
functions of every organization. Operations managers transform human, physical,
and technical resources into goods and services. Hence, it is vital that
every organization manage this resource conversion effectively and efficiently.
How effectively this is accomplished depends upon the linkages between operating
decisions and top management (strategic) decisions. The focus of the course
is decision-making at the operating level of the firm. A strong emphasis
will be placed on the development and use of quantitative models to assist
decision making.
