EN 131.04 Studies in Poetry (Spring 2008-2009: 3)
This course is meant, by careful reading and exploration of short lyrics,
to develop our abilities to raise productive questions. A graduated series
of written exercises is designed to help you make progress in dealing with
more questions, and more complex questions, as you encounter more complicated
poems. The poems we'll read and the ones you'll be asked to write about
will come from a writers from the 16th to the 21st century. We will likely
give our attention for about three weeks near the end of the course to the
career of a single poet.
