Prerequisite: BI204 and additional course work in molecular cell biology (such as BI304, BI414 or BI440)
Lab fee required.
This course is an advanced laboratory for hands-on training in the experimental techniques of molecular biology. In addition to formal lab training and discussions, students will have access to the lab to work on projects intended to produce publication-quality data. Students will be follow a single research project throughout the semester. Methods taught include: recombinant DNA and cloning techniques, DNA sequencing, polymerase chain reaction, histology and the use of computers and national databases for the analysis of DNA and protein sequences.
