BI 479 Research in Molecular Microbiology Lab (Fall: 3)

Satisfies the advanced experience requirement for the Biology Major.
An advanced project laboratory course for hands-on training in the experimental
techniques of molecular microbiology under faculty supervision. The course
will focus on the extraction of genetic material and cloning of genes from
a variety of different organisms in order to analyze functional homology
of the methionine pathway. Methods taught include: DNA extraction, DNA sequencing,
polymerase chain reaction, and the use databases for research and analysis.
