BI 321 Plant Biology (Spring: 3)
Prerequisite:
BI200
This course focuses on the critical importance of plants on Earth, and how
their physiology (cell structure, photosynthetic ability, flowering, specialized
structures allowing water and nutrient absorption and transport, defense
strategies against predators, etc.) allows them to perform their diverse
functions. Additional topics will include strategies that plants employ
for adapting to environmental stresses such as pollutants and changing climate,
as well as the development of transgenic strains of crop plants.
