Practicum for Secondary Education Majors

The following motions were recommended to the dean on June 29, 1999 by the full EPC, and formally approved by the dean on August 9, 1999.

(1) To create a third prepracticum experience for secondary education majors.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(2) To relocate the "Senior Seminar" course hours and experiences across all four years of undergraduate work and increase the number of total hours from three to Four.

Vote: 6 Yes, 1 Abstain

(3) To create an undergraduate minor in Middle School Mathematics.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(4) To create an undergraduate minor in Special Education.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(5) To create 2 separate strands within the TE master's program- a master's program for "initial certification of educators" (ICE) for those who enter the master's program without advanced provisional certification and a master's program for "already certified educators" (ACE) for those who enter the master's program holding advanced provisional certification.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(6) To revise the fieldwork requirements for ICE and ACE strands as specified by the Teacher Education Department in the charts on pages 6 and 7 of the Curriculum Revisions Proposal submitted by the Teacher Education Department.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(7) To revise the common knowledge base for the proposed ICE and ACE strands as specified by the Teacher Education Department in the chart on pages 8, 10 , and 11 of the Curriculum Revisions Proposal submitted by the Teacher Education Department.

Vote: 7 unanimous

(8) To revise the specific knowledge base requirements for the master's level "Initial Certification for Educators" (ICE) and for "Already Certified Educators" (ACE) as specified by the Teacher Education Department on pages 13 and 14 of the Curriculum Revisions Proposal submitted by the Teacher Education Department.
